BIOGRAPHY

ROWAN DOES NOT REMEMBER ANYTHING BEFORE ACE. For the longest time, he doesn't remember what it's like to have a name, to be loved, to be treated like anything other than the weakest person alive. He's a lab rat, though, not a very good one. For the longest time, there's the fear that those in charge would figure out that he was not like the other kids he grew up around. They all had special abilities, and time was spent training them to fight and be strong. Rowan, on the other hand, was simply a punching bag. He had nothing. Most days, he was tired and sick, no matter what the scientists tried to do. He could never even compare to the others. He was so weak.

One day, by chance, a scientist brings a little plant into the little place that he was forced to call home. The flower was a gift to one of the others, and it was the first time that any of the kids had seen anything that could be considered part of nature. For some reason, he feels drawn to the plant. Even though he's not supposed to, he ends up taking it. He ends up talking to it. He ends up making it grow.

So he goes from punching bag to lab rat. Days are spent testing him. Rowan wonders if maybe one day they'll let him out, but they never do, only ever plants in for him to be around. All of his energy is spent using and developing his powers, but he's still never able to catch up to the others. So, he's still a punching bag, really. The other kids push and shove him around. All except for one boy, a boy who can make things float with his mind.

(He's the one that gives Rowan the name Rowan. He likes to steal things from the scientists, and apparently, it's a kind of tree.)

Then one day, chaos breaks out among the laboratory. Law enforcement breaks down the doors, and out of fear, Rowan makes a run for it. He wants to go with his friend, but the two get split up, but Rowan keeps going. He makes it outside, and is met by grass and trees and the sun, and for the first time, he doesn't feel sick. For the first time, he feels like he can run forever. So he runs, and he runs, until he falls asleep under a tree.

A couple of days are spent in the woods. Then he's found by law enforcement. Apparently he used to have a family, but not anymore. He's passed along from family to family, forced to go to school, to try and blend into the rest of the world, but it doesn't really work. he wants to be outside, he wants to be free, but he's not. They call him by a name that he doesn't like, they still push him around, still treat him as if he's weird and weak.

Eventually, he ends up at a home that's okay, that doesn't want to get rid of him. He ends up with a job at a little gardening store with a greenhouse, where he manages to do a good job. He drops out of school, works full time, and works to get his own place. Eventually he does, and not just that, he ends up taking over the greenhouse as well. And for once, things are okay.

ABILITIES

  • Plant communication. Rowan is able to understand plants, using the natural vibrations that they exchange to communicate with each other. He can feel these vibrations when making contact with plant life, or the soil that they are planted in, and can use them to "talk" to plant. It's not really talking in the same sense that that humans do, but it's the botanical equivalent.

  • Chlorokinesis. By communicating with plants, he is able to manipulate them to grow larger, or grow in ways that he can they normally wouldn't. He must be touching the plant or the soil it is planted in to be able to do this, and uses his own energy to enable the plant to grow in the way that he would like to.

  • Emotional connection to plants. This basically is just saying that plants in the area around Rowan will be affected by his general demeanor. Flowers may bloom when he's happy, and etc.

  • Stronger during the day. Due to his connection to plants, Rowan is much happier and in general has more energy when he is outdoors, or in direct sunlight. When he goes too long without it, he will begin to get sick and weak. Not only this, but he will get very depressed.

first. so, alex is my original character, and based on my lore for a little project i call the ace laboratories lore. basically, he's connected to my original characters bear (on hitundo) and rain (on herflame). more information on the general lore can be found here.

second. i try to tag most triggers as they show up! i tag them as 'trigger tw'. i don't have triggers, but i ask that you tag nsfw and real world politics. thank you!

third. i'm entirely multiship and multiverse. i love canons, i love ocs, bring them all my way. i love developing aus and verses as well, so if there's something on this page that doesn't fit your muse, i'm happy to make something new!

fourth. i'm mutuals only. this is something that eases my own anxiety. so starter calls, ask memes, and open starts are only for mutuals. i also ask that you please don't message me if we aren't mutuals.

fifth. to be honest, i love shipping, and am totally here for it. i portray rowan as bisexual, so yeah! i do not write smut, however.

sixth. i don't really do a lot of formatting when it comes to replies. i just use small text, and maybe i will occasionally use icons. maybe. i don't really care how you format, do whatever you like!
